1. Introduction
In line with its commitment to promoting human rights and supporting civil society in Africa, a BAMRO delegation conducted an official visit to several African countries between 20 and 27 October 2025.
The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation with local and regional institutions, exchange experiences, and assess education and human rights conditions on the ground.
This mission is part of BAMRO’s broader strategy to develop rights-based networks, raise awareness, and empower youth and women across Africa, in accordance with international human rights conventions and the Sustainable Development Goals.
2. Participation in the 85th African Human Rights Session
The BAMRO delegation participated in the 85th Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, held annually under the supervision of the African Union.
2.1 Main Topics of the Session
Protection of fundamental human rights in African states.
Strengthening the role of civil society in monitoring violations.
Combating discrimination and promoting gender equality.
Supporting youth and women’s participation in decision-making and sustainable development.
2.2 BAMRO Delegation’s Contribution
The delegation delivered legal and strategic interventions highlighting the importance of collaboration between international and local organizations to enhance the protection of fundamental rights.
It also participated in dialogue sessions with representatives of member states and regional organizations to share best practices in monitoring, advocacy, and public awareness.
2.3 Election of a New Chairperson
During the session, Mr. Dassou Issa was elected as the new Chairperson of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
BAMRO congratulated him and expressed its willingness to cooperate closely with the Commission’s leadership.
3. Participation in the Congolese Embassy Reception
The delegation attended a reception hosted by the Congolese Embassy, engaging with government representatives and diplomatic missions to promote humanitarian and legal cooperation across Africa.
4. Field Visits to Schools
The delegation visited seven schools in different areas to:
Assess educational needs and curricula.
Meet students and teachers to understand daily challenges.
Share best practices in education and child rights.
These visits provided valuable field insights and will inform future educational and development programs.
5. Results and Recommendations
5.1 Results
Strengthened cooperation networks between BAMRO and African institutions.
Enhanced engagement with the African Commission and official stakeholders.
Documented on-the-ground educational and human rights challenges.
Opened communication channels with the new Chairperson, Mr. Dassou Issa.

Strengthen partnerships with local actors to ensure implementation.
Maintain regular participation in African human rights sessions.

6. Side Activities and Bilateral Meetings
On the sidelines of the session, the BAMRO delegation held bilateral meetings with officials and special rapporteurs, and participated in several side events including the seminar “Human Rights in Africa: Challenges and Opportunities for a Better Future” and a youth empowerment session in human rights advocacy.
Discussions also covered the situations in Sudan, Palestine, and Libya.
7. Media Coverage and Impact
BAMRO’s participation received extensive media coverage. The organization shared daily updates and photos through its digital platforms, increasing public awareness of the African Commission’s work.
This visibility strengthened BAMRO’s image as a key Euro-African civil society actor and promoted transparency and civic engagement.

This visit reaffirms BAMRO’s commitment to promoting human rights, empowering youth and women, and supporting education in Africa.
It marks an important step towards stronger cooperation between civil society and African institutions in advancing justice and human dignity across the continentcontinent.
