The celebration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

    On the occasion of the World Day to stop violence against women,  our ally: the Organization for the culture of women and children has celebrated this occasion via the organization of a Festival with the support of the Norwegian People's in Dhi Qar province, and with the presence of the local government, organizations, a representative of the Police Directorate, and the Office of Human Rights in the province of Maysan as well as with  the presence of the governor of Maysan with famous figures from the local government.

   The attendants included also representatives of different religions, and members of non-governmental organizations.

  Among the activities of the festival, there was the delivery of brochures on a plan of resolution 1325 and women's rights in the national legislation and international treaties. There was also the participation of women with poems that shed light on violence directed against them. Besides, there were speeches of some guests and a theatrical show of  “A girl for Sale” on trafficking in women.  In addition, there was also a  honoring of special  women and organizations  that have contributed to the support of women’s action  in the province.
