About sectarian murders in Diyala

NB:  The report is concluded with exclusive pictures we have just received on: Tuesday, December1st,2015 at: 02:00 pm on Belgium timing. These pictures were sent to us by our human rights team working in Diyala.                                        

 An urgent memorandum:

   The Belgian Organization for Human Rights and Development has sent an urgent memo to the Commission on Human Rights in Geneva on the sectarian murders that occurred against Iraqis from Sunni Muslims in the Iraqi province of Diyala on Monday, January 1^st, 2016. The memorandum includes a documentation for visible and audible testimonies of relatives of the victims. The latter ones stated that unidentified gunmen attacked on Monday afternoon promptly at 14 pm- on Iraqi time- markets, shops and private worship places for Sunni Muslims.

    Our organization has documented in pictures and in cooperation with our alley: “Observer human rights organization” that operates in the province of Diyala, the targeting of places of worship, including:

          Moreover, our organization has documented the murder of the 30 victims and the wounding of 52 people, according to our organization findings and to complaints that we have received from the families of the victims. Besides, the organization has also received a complaint from the relatives of the victim: Mohamed Kamel Saleh Alnadaoui from  Alorouba area in Muqdadiyah. Alnadaoui was killed in front of his family. Our organization has  private pictures of the victim and of the inhuman manner in which he was killed; the pictures are joined to this urgent note. Other victims were : Mrs Ilham Faleh Mahmoud who was killed, and the old man Hussein Khazraji who was hit.

          A journalist  working for a local Iraqi satellite channel, in the province of Diyala in Muqdadiyah was also killed. As for the area of Shahraban in the province of Diyala, ​​our organization also documented there exclusively the killing of seven people from the Sunni Muslims along with the attacks on civilians with car bombs in Diyala province.

              Our organization is still following with deep concern the bloody events that are still taking place there and it simultaneously supplies the committees of the United Nations with reports on the spot.

    Our organization contacted the High Commissioner Mr. Pablo de Greve about the note and called him to open a quick investigation on the new massacre . Since this early morning, the Belgian organization for human rights and development has been acting in association with the media and human rights activists to ensure the rights of the victims.
